Simply one of the best off-road racers in the world, Walker Evans is known for his endurance, daring, and gentlemanly manners. (Not to mention the ever-present Stetson!). During a highly successful career in racing, he was known for many “firsts”. Chief among them was being the first racer ever to win the Baja 1000 in a truck, a feat thought to be impossible because of the jagged terrain. Walker went on to win the Baja 1000 nine times, and he continued to race in other venues, taking victories as he tried them all. From desert, to circle track, to road races, to rock crawling, he always welcomed the challenge.
Among his many career accomplishments are:
- 1972-1973 NORRA Overall points Champion
- 1974, 1975, 1978 SCORE Overall points Champion
- 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1987 HDRA Overall point Champion
- 1986 SCORE/HDRA Heavy Metal and Class 8 Champion
- 1991 Mickey Thompson Grand National Sport Truck Champion
