A long-time Riverside resident Karl Marshall who has been committed to being physically for all of his 89 years. He won his first bodybuilding contest at age 14 and competed successfully for many years in the amateur ranks of football, baseball and was 44-3 as a middleweight boxer.
A long-time Riverside resident Karl Marshall who has been committed to being physically for all of his 89 years. He won his first bodybuilding contest at age 14 and competed successfully for many years in the amateur ranks of football, baseball and was 44-3 as a middleweight boxer.
In time, his devotion to working with weights helped him win the Mr. Ohio bodybuilding title, followed by weightlifting championships in Spain, France and Germany. The need to work and a serious industrial accident curtailed his activities for 14 years. By age 50 in 1978, Karl returned to bodybuilding and since then has made a dramatic impact on the competitive sport for nearly the last four decades. To date, Karl has won the following titles: Over 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 National Physique Committee (NPC) Nationals; the Over 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 Mr. U.S.A. and Mr. America Championships; the Over 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 Mr. Universe titles; and nearly two dozen Gold medals in the Senior Olympics. These are all “natural” competitions where there is no use of drugs or enhancements allowed and this is a great source of pride for Karl. Remarkably, he had won his age category for 29 years in a row against top notch competition from all over the United States.
Karl is a mentally strong world-class athlete who has a goal to be 100 years of age and be able to perform to his maximum potential on stage.
