Debbi Huffman Guthrie is a life-long Riverside resident and long-time professional and civic leader. She first learned lessons in leadership and in promoting her community during her teen years when she swam competitively with the Riverside Aquettes synchronized swimming team. In 1977, she became the third-generation owner of a roofing company established in Riverside by her grandfather in 1921. Under her 27-year leadership, the company grew to nearly 5 million in annual revenue, with an average of 35 employees. As a result of her success as a businesswoman and entrepreneur, Debbi took on more prominent roles in the community, including serving as a Director and member of the Audit Committee with Provident Bank since 1993. She has distinguished herself as a civic leader, participating on numerous boards and on behalf of several important initiatives. Debbi was a leading proponent for the innovative public/private partnership that led to the construction of the Riverside Aquatics Complex. In that capacity, she served as the Aquatics Campaign chair, helped develop a program to increase access to aquatics sports for area children and played a major role in the opening festivities. Her volunteer activities include present and past involvement with the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce; Riverside Sport Hall of Fame; Riverside Community College District Foundation; United Way of the Inland Valleys; UC Riverside Foundation; Junior League of Riverside, Monday Morning Group; MAFB Military Affairs Committee; Riverside Civic Light Opera; California Baptist University, La Sierra University and the Riverside Community Hospital Foundation.

In 2011, Debbi was honored by the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce as “Citizen of the Year” for her civic engagement and community leadership. She was also recognized by the City of Riverside with the 2013 Spirit of Riverside Award for her extraordinary deeds, good citizenship and dedication to enhancing the quality of life in her home town. Especially noteworthy is Debbi’s work as executive vice president for Raincross Hospitality Corporation, where she played an integral role in the operations of the Riverside Convention Center, the Riverside Convention & Visitors Bureau and where she co-founded the Riverside Sports Commission. In that capacity she successfully marketed Riverside as a premier destination for state, regional, national and international sports events by highlighting city facilities such as the Riverside Aquatics Complex, the Ab Brown Soccer Complex, area sports stadiums and other athletic venues. As a result, the city has served as host to many USA and International aquatic sports, NCAA, CIF and AYSO events, making a significant impact on the local economy. In 2014, Debbi was named No. 1 of the Top 10 Most Influential Sports Personalities in Inland Southern California by the Riverside Press-Enterprise for her role in successfully co-producing these sports competitions. In her capacity as Director of the Riverside Sports Commission, Debbi worked with her team to bring in tens of thousands of visitors who booked hotel room nights and enjoyed all that Riverside has to offer.

Debbi and her husband, Jim, have four adult daughters and five grandchildren.
