Al began his coaching career by leading Hemet High to its first CIF baseball crown in 1953. At Ramona and RCC, “Coach” was popular with his players and students for pushing them to reach their potential in athletics and in life. He believed being a successful teacher was his greatest professional achievement. His teams were always competitive and he coached nine NFL and MLB players in thirty-five years. Al was inducted into the University of Redlands Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003.
